ABOUT TALKHOCKEYRADIO PODCASTS

Our podcasts last between 25 and 35 minutes each and come in the popular MP3 format.  The file size of each programme varies according to the content but an average file is about 14 MB.  If you have fast broadband you should be able to download this in a few seconds.

Programme content usually consists of interviews with players, coaches, and the movers and shakers in hockey.  We tend to concentrate on senior hockey, both men’s and women’s, and a large amount of the content is devoted to national league, European club and international hockey.  However, there is usually something there for grass roots players.

Podcasts are produced to a high standard by a BBC trained producer.

In the September 2010 edition of TalkHockeyRadio

After the Women’s Champions Trophy in Nottingham, TalkHockeyRadio was off to Monchengladbach in Germany for the Men’s Champions Trophy.

England’s men came back from Germany with silver medals, so naturally we talk to head coach Jason Lee about the success of his team. But Monchengladbach was full of other interesting people and we get to talk to a few of them.

England Hockey president Simon Mason was in Monchengladbach as TV co-commentator. But as managing director of Mercian Hockey he was also busy manning the Mercian stand.  We talk to Simon about sticks and goalkeeping kit, old and new, and his role in the commentary box.

You may not have heard of Rupert Rumney but he has an important position in international hockey. Working for the FIH, he brings the TV pictures to our screens and is involved in the video umpire referrals.  A fascinating interview you should not miss.

Australian coach Ric Charlesworth can always be relied on to speak his mind.  He chats about his team and those controversial ‘foot on the line’ video appeals.

Just down the road from the stadium, a group of young people from around the world were meeting at the Gladbacher Hockey Club as FIH Youth Promoters. Among them was Rachel Williams from the England Hockey Youth Panel who reached the last seven of a competition to see who could produce the best presentation about their work to promote hockey.  We talk to Rachel as she awaits the judges decision.

You can also hear some of the atmosphere in the Warsteiner Hockeypark as the England team walk out onto the pitch for the final against Australia.

It’s all in the September edition of TalkHockeyRadio.
