NEAREST STATION |
There are several stations in the area which are just over a mile away, but Hinchley Wood offers the most straightforward walk to the ground. |
|
PARKING |
Despite a comparatively small car park, we’ve never found finding a space a problem. |
|
WINDSCREEN BREAKAGE? |
Car park is beyond the end of the pitch, and although there is some distance in between, it is always a possibility. |
|
SPECTATOR FACILITIES |
None. Spectators have a limited area in which they can watch matches due to the proximity of the second pitch, which is at right angles to the main pitch. Surbiton home games always seem to attract good crowds, so you will not be short of someone to chat to. |
|
CLUB HOUSE |
In need of modernisation but not actually terrible. Bar can get very crowded, but there is an eating area where you can move into if you find your elbows pinned against your sides. |
|
WHO YOU MIGHT SEE PLAYING |
Surbiton men used to look like England in green and purple, but that’s no longer the case. However, Matt Daly. Rob Moore and James Tindall have remained on the books. The women’s squad is packed full of talent, although there are few ‘big name’ players. The exception is London bronze medallist Georgie Twigg. |

OTHER |
This only applies to the guys, but we’ve seen one or two matches at Sugden Road that could easily put you off hockey. The last match we saw, they actually seemed to be enjoying playing and generally didn’t blame everything on the umpires. That has not always been the case, and we can only hope that things have changed for the better. |
