Countdown to the 2012 Olympic Hockey Tournament
It looks almost like an artists impression, but it’s not. It’s the real thing photographed during
the Olympic Test Event in May. In the background you can see the main Olympic stadium,
with Anish Kapoor’s ‘The Orbit’ to its left. Left of that is the Olympic Swimming Pool.
The Riverbank Arena is where the hockey is being played and, if you are a ticket holder, you need
to know that it’s about 15-20 minutes walk from the entrance to the Park to the Arena, so allow
plenty of time.  For those who have mobility problems, airport style transport is provided.

TOP TIPS IF YOU ARE GOING TO THE GAMES

1. Leave plenty of time (1):  Public transport heading towards the Games will be under a lot of pressure and parts are busy with commuters during the Rush Hour.

2. Leave plenty of time (2): It is a long walk from the gate to the hockey stadium (approximately 15-20 minutes).

3. Read the conditions of your ticket:  There are some things you are not allowed to take into the Olympic Park and, if you have anything confiscated, they don’t have to give it back!

4. Be ready for all weathers!: The terraces of the Riverbank Arena are very exposed and there is no cover.  Be ready for extremes of weather, ranging from burning sunshine to torrential rain.

5. Leave plenty of time (3): Stewards may stop you from exiting the Park if areas outside the exit get overcrowded.  If you need to make travel arrangements after the end of your session, be aware that you could be delayed leaving the Park.
