OLYMPIC HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
MEDAL WINNING NATIONS 1908-2012

Men’s hockey was first introduced into the Olympic Games in 1908. Women had to wait until 1980, when their tournament only included six nations. The women did not achieve equal footing (12 teams) until Athens in 2004.    Hockey was first played on artificial turf in Montreal in 1976. Information on the men’s tournaments in shown in blue. Information on the women’s tournaments in shown in pink.
